LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW

I don't know why I haven't been writing. Lots of thoughts and feelings but not sure about putting them down on "paper."

It started snowing this morning and now the ground is covered and the snow is coming down fast with big graceful flakes. Very pretty. It is a surprise, this snow. It just doesn't snow enough here for me but I am grateful for when it does. I guess I long for the days of my youth. In Indiana we would wake up and be snowed in, and we lived in the city. We had a front porch and I will always remember one time that we opened the front door and all there was, was a wall of snow. We tunneled out, off the porch and around the side of the house to get to the back yard. All tunnels. The world was so quiet and beautiful, all dressed in white. I am enjoying this snow, it most likely will be all we see until winter comes around again.

I have had a terrible flu this week. Knocked me on my butt. Finally am feeling better. Drew, Frances and Alex went to a birthday party that was held at an indoor water park not far from here. It is at a resort up north. They had so much fun, did the water thing then went to the arcade. Got home late and exhausted. Alex had so much fun. Our home isn't very big but there are days and days that I don't even see Drew. It seems weird how we live together but separately.

Clay got good news about his college courses. It seems that he will be teaching sooner than we anticipated. We actually see the light at the end of the tunnel. He substitutes quite often now for 2 of the area schools and he enjoys it so much.

We have fruit and nut trees ordered and will be arriving in about a month. Persimmon, Peach, Pear, 50 strawberry plants, a Honeysuckle bush, Pecan and Chestnut. We also are receiving 7 trees from the Arbor Day Society. Oh I also ordered some quick growing shrubs that we are going to plant out front by the road, in a couple of years it should be a big green privacy fence between us and the road. The road is a long way from the front of our house but still I would like to not see the road, just a long expanse of lawn and trees and then a beautiful wall of green.

Clay has already expanded the garden and beside the usual things we are trying our hand at new stuff. One is artichokes, would love to have enough of them to be able to can them and then use them for lasagnas and pizzas. Angela had the best recipes for vegetarian lasagnas and pizza and can't wait to make them with things straight from our garden. I can't think of the other new things but when they get planted will update then.

Drew has ordered some very expensive marine wood and is going to be building a shelter to start building his sailboat. Was Clay's dream at Drew's age and now is Drew's dream. We have some fantastic lakes around here and Drew and Frances have also been getting camping equipment. They are going to camp out up in our woods where they are going to build their house and also to go camping at some of the lakes around here.
